English and Art project in London

As part of a joint project between English and Art, the pupils from 9S3 and 2S3 had the opportunity to live a fruitful week in the British Capital.
Besides the inevitable changing of the guard (under a hot shining sun), we visited the exhibition of the thought-provoking and controversial artist Damien Hirst, but we could also take the full measure of the British Museum collection where Mrs Konieczny underlined “Cradle to Grave”, the contemporary work of art by the group of artists Pharmacopoeia.

In Shakespeare’s country, the pupils visited the Globe Theatre where they could take part in theatre workshop led by a British actor and an actress. Yet, the main point was perhaps to discover that Shakespeare can be tackled in a corporeal and playful way, far away from the image of the abstruse text on which you dwell upon with bafflement.

Add a dose of good mood and fits of laughter in the hotel rooms, two or three measures of London shopping, the muggy heat and the pressing crowd in the tube and everyone will keep in mind a captivating city that they will certainly visit again one day.
