Day 1+2 (20 and 21\/05\/2013)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Um 23 Uhr fuhren die Klassen 7a und 5eme bi1 begleitet von 4 Lehrern (Herr Marschall, Frau Thom\u00e9, Mme Reysset und Mme Rapp) am DFG los. Alle waren aufgeregt und freuten sich auf England. Nach ungef\u00e4hr 4 Stunden wechselte unser Busfahrer, der uns die ganze Woche begleiten wird. Dann fuhren wir weiter. Nach ungef\u00e4hr 3 Stunden kamen wir zur englisch-franz\u00f6sischen Grenze, wo wir austeigen mussten um dort unseren Personalausweis zu zeigen. Wir stiegen wieder in den Bus und fuhren eine halbe Stunde sp\u00e4ter auf die F\u00e4hre. Es regnete und wir mussten unter Deck bleiben. Dort gab es Tische, B\u00e4nke, St\u00fchle, eine Bar, Spielautomaten.\u2026 Alle waren m\u00fcde und wollten schlafen. Nach eineinhalb Stunden Fahrt erreichten wir Dover und fuhren mit dem Bus weiter zu Dover Castle, das aber noch geschlossen war, a\u00dfen Muffins und gingen anschlie\u00dfend im Wald spazieren. Um 10 Uhr \u00f6ffnete Dover Castle und wir besichtigten die K\u00fcche und stiegen bis nach oben, wo man einen tollen Blick \u00fcber das Castle hatte. Vor dem Krankenhaus hatte man einen super Blick \u00fcber den Hafen und das Meer. Nachdem alle Fotos gemacht hatten, gingen wir zum Bus zur\u00fcck und fuhren durch England bis wir in Hastings angekommen waren.<\/p>\n

Then we drove to Hastings and went to our bedrooms. At 6 pm we had dinner and after that we walked along the beach. We spent about 1 hour on the beach and played football. The beach was amazing and really beautiful. At 9.30 pm the teachers told us to go to bed. All in all that day was really exhausting but also exciting.<\/p>\n

Day 3 (22\/05\/2013):<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wir sind gegen 10 Uhr aus dem Hotel gegangen, um das \u201eShipwreck Museum\u201c zu besichtigen. Als wir dort angekommen sind, haben wir uns zun\u00e4chst in zwei, danach jedoch in vier Gruppen aufgeteilt, da die einzelnen Gruppen sonst zu gro\u00df gewesen w\u00e4ren.<\/p>\n

Im Museum hatten wir einen Museumsf\u00fchrer, der uns viel \u00fcber Schiffe, deren Besatzung und deren Ungl\u00fccke erz\u00e4hlt hat (nat\u00fcrlich auf Englisch). Als alles erkl\u00e4rt war, gingen wir in einen d\u00e4mmerigen Raum, wo wir einen Film geguckt haben. Danach sind wir in den Shop gegangen.<\/p>\n

Nach einer kleinen Pause durften wir zwei Stunden in 3er Gruppen durch Hastings.<\/p>\n

Als wir zu unserem Treffpunkt zur\u00fcckkamen, erfuhr ich von einer M\u00f6we, die \u00fcber Frau Thom\u00e9 etwas fallen lie\u00df \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Danach wurden wir von einem \u00e4lteren Herrn durch den Ort gef\u00fchrt und erfuhren viel \u00fcber England, den Krieg und Schmuggler in Hastings.<\/p>\n

Nach der F\u00fchrung durch Hastings hatten wir noch Gelegenheit auf dem Westhill in der N\u00e4he der Burgruine Fu\u00dfball zu spielen und den Blick auf das Meer zu genie\u00dfen.<\/p>\n

The weather was very wet but the beach was very pretty and we had a great time in Hastings because we learned a lot about smugglers and ships.<\/p>\n

Day 4 (23\/05\/2013)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today we went to London and started with a guided tour in our coach. Our tour guide told us lots of interesting things about London\u2019s history and the most famous sights such as St. Paul\u2019s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, the different Parks etc. When we got off the bus near the Mall we were lucky to see the change of guards.
\nAfter the tour we visited the Tower of London with its Crown Jewels and the ravens.
\nIn order to get the most beautiful view over London, we walked up a lot of stairs in the Tower Bridge. When we arrived there, we watched a film about the construction of the bridge before we could find out more about how it works by walking around the Gallery.<\/p>\n

Day 5 (24\/05\/2013)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Heute sind wir nach dem Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck in Hastings nach Brighton zum Royal Pavilion und zum Brighton Pier gefahren. Es war kalt und ziemlich windig, doch es ging. Dort angekommen liefen wir erst einmal durch eine Art Park oder Garten und gelangten dann zum Pavilion. In dem Geb\u00e4ude bekamen alle ein Audio-Guide in die Hand gedr\u00fcckt und von dort an durfte man sich auch frei (den Nummern der einzelnen R\u00e4ume folgend) bewegen. Zuerst ging es durch einen nicht sehr ansprechenden Flur – nun ja, irgendwie doch wegen der chinesischen Figuren – als wir dann in den n\u00e4chsten Raum, den \u201eDrachensaal\u201c kamen, war ich echt beeindruckt. \u00dcberall Drachenskulpturen und ein riesiger geschnitzter Drache an der Decke. Den Nummern folgend kamen wir dann an der K\u00fcche des Pavilion vorbei, an Schlafzimmer, Musikzimmer, Esszimmer, Aufenthaltszimmer… In der Mitte der Tour gab es ein kleines Caf\u00e9, indem wir uns hinsetzten und den leckeren (aber teuren) Kuchen a\u00dfen. Am Ende gab es noch einen Shop, indem aber eigentlich fast niemand etwas kaufte.<\/p>\n

Es ging danach weiter zum Brighton-Pier, wo wir uns eine halbe Stunde frei bewegen durften und ein paar Gruppenfotos und Fotos von dem Meer machten. Am Pier befanden sich mehrere Imbiss- und Spielbuden u.a., wo manche schnell ihr Geld verspielt hatten… Wir nutzten die Gelegenheit, uns unser Mittagessen dort zu kaufen, da kaum jemand das Lunch-Paket mit dem Sandwich essen konnte und wir auch \u00f6fters (jedenfalls ich und meine Freundinnen) mittags hungern mussten… Nach der Freizeit ging es wieder ab in den Bus und wir fuhren zum Shoppen nach Eastbourne in die Shopping Mall.<\/p>\n

On that day, we made an excursion to Brighton, to the Brighton Pier and the Royal Pavilion. First we went to the Pavilion and made a tour with audio-guides. The rooms were really spectacular with lots of details… Then we went to the Brighton Pier and bought something to eat or played with the slot machines. I think our England trip was very cool and interesting, also because it was funny in the hotel with the teachers when we played games in the community space.<\/p>\n

Day 6 (25\/05\/2013)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first thing we have to mention about day 6 is the weather: sunshine and blue sky! So the conditions for our walk on the cliffs were perfect!<\/p>\n

But first of all we started our day with a visit in Battle, a small village of great historical importance for the French and the English. In 1066, William the Conqueror fought against the English King and won the battle. Visitors can inform themselves by watching an interesting film about the battle and by walking around the battle field and the old Abbey.<\/p>\n

After that, our coach took us to Beachy Head near Eastbourne where we went for a nice long walk along the coast. We were lucky to enjoy the most beautiful view over the white cliffs and the sea.<\/p>\n

Our last day in Hastings ended with some free time in Hastings in which we could either go to the beach or do some shopping.<\/p>\n

In the evening we watched the Champions League final: Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund.<\/p>\n

Day 7 (26\/05\/2013)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, every trip has to end and ours ended on May 26th. We had to get up very early to arrive in London on time to see as many things as possible. The first thing we did was visiting the British Museum with its vast collection of world art and artefacts.<\/p>\n

Our next stop was at Covent Garden where we listened to the buskers and walked around the old market. Then we did a long tour around London on foot: from Covent Garden to Picadilly Circus along Picadilly to the Buckingham Palace where we stopped for a short picnic. After that we walked along the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben until we finally arrived at the London Eye Pier to take the boat to Greenwich. In Greenwich we saw the famous Observatory. We then spent some time eating dinner before crossing the Park to get to our coach.<\/p>\n

Our trip to Hastings\/England \u2013 Impressions by students<\/strong><\/p>\n

My personal highlights during the trip were Beachy Head and London. I also liked the free times in Eastbourne and Greenwich.
\nI loved the two days in London because it was very interesting. We discovered the city with the \u201cShard\u201d (it\u2019s the tallest building in Europe: 330 metres high!), we visited the Tower of London, we had a Thames cruise on a boat and we walked up the Tower Bridge. I also liked the British Museum and all the parks we visited.
\nThe funniest moments were the free times in Eastbourne and Greenwich. We could buy lots of presents and souvenirs in Eastbourne\u2019s commercial centre and in Greenwich, where we went to Subway, a restaurant where you can make your sandwich as you like.
\nI also liked Beachy Head, a place on the coast. The place is very beautiful: you can see the white cliffs and look down to the sea.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

My favourite highlight in England was when we visited the Royal Pavilion in Brighton. It was really interesting. We had audio-guides. From the outside the Pavilion looks like a palace in India. The Pavilion is really big and inside it looks like in China. All the rooms in the Palace are tall and big. The rooms are all different with many accessories and they are really colouful.
\nThe Royal Pavilion was the Palace of King George III. He had many women and he loved to eat and to party. So he was very fat.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

My favourite moments were in Hastings in the Shipwreck Museum. This museum is about shipwrecks in England like the Amsterdam. This museum was very interesting because there was an exhibition with films, lights and sound. In the museum we could see things archaeologists found in wrecks like money pots and jars, forks and knives and big wooden rudders.
\nThe second favourite moment was the British Museum in London. I found it very interesting because it was amazing that such a big glass globe hasn\u2019t broken yet! I find the sculptures made by Chinese people were very colouful. The quiz about the museum was very cool because we had to go from one room in the museum to the other.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

My best memory was the coach tour in London. I was with the students and the teachers. In the coach, there was also a guide. She explained things about London and the famous buildings. I saw Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Saint Paul\u2019s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace and many more. We also saw newer things like the London Eye, the red double-decker buses and the famous black taxis. There are also red old double-deckers but not many. I felt very excited and I took many photographs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

My best memory is the Tower of London because I really like medieval things. I was with a little group of eleven people with Miss Thom\u00e9. First we went to the White Tower where we saw a lot of medieval armors and lots of uniforms, some of them from pirates. There were also lots of guns and swords but also modern guns that we use in the war. I thought how life was in medieval times and when I saw all the torture machines I thought that life was hard then!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

One of my best memories is also one of my worst memories! We went walking along a cliff near Eastbourne. It was super nice but for me it was a bit bad because I am afraid of heights we had a great view from there. We saw the different depths of the sea. We also saw nature: the trees, a lot of grass. Sometimes we could see the beach at the down below. And there were two lighthouses. It was very interesting. The cliffs were very high and for me it was too high! I didn\u2019t go near the edge of the cliffs. It was a long walk but it was funny and cool and for me it was a new adventure.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
