First stop for this new Erasmus+ project „Headlines: More than Meets the Eye“ was Madrid from the 26th until the 1st of February.

Besides comparing newspaper front pages from Finland , France, Germany, Greece and Spain, students discovered Madrid and the Spanish way of life in the families where they were hosted.

They also produced their own front pages and participated in a radio programme that will be broadcasted in Madrid.

Next stage of the project will take us to Athens.

From the 19th until the 21st November, the French-German High School will be working with partner schools from Finland, Greece and Spain.

The focus of the project “Headlines: More than Meets the Eye” will be on introducing pupils to work in international teams and make them aware of their information surrounding.

They will be turned into reporters, visit media outlets, analyze and produce themselves information items that will allow them to consider news in a new light.

Of course, as usual with Erasmus+ projects, our pupils will visit their peers abroad, share their daily lives for a week, and also host them when it is our turn to receive them.

The ultimate goals of the project are also to reflect the European core values promoted by the Erasmus+ programme such as developing intercultural and environmental understanding, language skills, personal and social skills, and building long-lasting friendships abroad.

In a nutshell, promoting a European spirit and support democracy.

Our pupils, who were all hosted at Bulgarian’s families, discovered a country and a culture remote from their usual and daily environment.

Cultural visits, work around our theme “work and mobility”, and socialising were all on the menu.
If success was measured by the amount of farewell tears that were shed at the time of parting, this meeting was definitely successful.

However, despair not because this project is not yet over and May will be for us the time to match the friendliness and hospitality shown by our Italian, Spanish and Bulgarian partners.

It is a multi-purpose project, fostering European integration through mobility, increasing career opportunities through activities designed to groom our pupils for an international job market, and improving their linguistic skills.

But perhaps, first and foremost, is the unique and defining humane experience which will remain in the memory of all the actors involved.

The theme of the project is “Work and Mobility in Europe” and its purpose is to make pupils consider the notion of work across the countries involved, and through workshops such as CV writing and preparation to job interviews, to broaden their study and professional opportunities in the future.

Along the three years that the project will run, pupils will travel to the partner countries and hopefully achieve what is the second main aim of the project, making new friends, getting a sense of first-hand European community and weave bonds that could be useful later on in life.

Le lycée franco-allemand a reçu des représentants de lycées étrangers (Bulgarie, Grande-Bretagne, Espagne, Italie, Turquie) pour organiser les rencontres et les activités qui auront lieu dans le cadre de ce projet européen.

C’est un projet au long cours de 3 ans qui a pour thèmes principaux : travail et mobilité.

Un des objectif est de faire réfléchir les élèves à la notion de travail, de confronter et de comparer leur visions à celles des autres élèves européens et de leur donner certains outils pour faciliter la recherche d’emploi en Europe (rédaction d’un CV européen, simulation d’embauche).

Pour ce faire, le lycée franco-allemand travaillera en coopération avec EURES, organisme spécialisé dans le travail transfrontalier.

L’autre objectif majeur est de promouvoir un sentiment de communauté parmi tous les élèves impliqués à travers l’Europe et de créer des réseaux relationnels qui pourront leur être utile à l’avenir.
