The visit of a young American woman, Sofia Battistella, was an opportunity for some of the 11th and 12th grade classes to learn about some aspects of the history and culture of native Americans in the United States. Sofia, herself of Cherokee descent, is a Fulbright ambassador and as such participates in a cooperation programme between the United States and Germany that allows young Americans to meet with high school students in Germany and introduce them to parts of their country.
This has been another opportunity for our students to broaden their horizons and use their language skills and historical knowledge to participate in an enriching exchange. A big thank you to Sofia for coming!

La venue d’une jeune Américaine, Sofia Battistella, a été l’occasion pour certaines classes de 1ère et de terminale de se confronter à quelques pans de l’histoire et de la culture des peuples autochtones aux Etats-Unis. Sofia, elle-même de descendance Cherokee, est ambassadrice Fulbright et participe à ce titre à un programme de coopération entre les Etats-Unis et l’Allemagne qui permet à de jeunes Américains d’aller à la rencontre de lycéens en Allemagne et de leur présenter des pans de leur pays.
Encore une occasion pour nos élèves d’ouvrir leurs horizons et d’utiliser leurs compétences linguistiques et leurs connaissances historiques pour participer à un échange enrichissant. Un grand merci à Sofia pour sa venue !
