Hard to believe, but we have reached the final stage of our Comenius project and our last trip took us to bustling Istanbul. The city will certainly leave a lasting impression on all the people who had the luck to participate in this final visit. To welcome us in their school, the Turkish colleagues organized ice-breaking activities to give pupils from all countries to mingle. We were then given a tour of the school and the Comenius pupils were given the opportunity to attend lessons.
Evyap school is a private school financed by the Turkish company bearing the same name and which produces a wide range of personal care products. We were given the opportunity to visit one of their production centres. Unfortunately, once kitted up with the appropriate protective clothing, photographs were not allowed and we will not be able to show you much of our guided tour.
Nevertheless, we were explained the production process of various soap bars, from the raw material down to the final packaged soap. We were also told how great care was taken not to waste any material and we could witness workers collecting trimming losses to be recycled into new products. Wasting is money down the drain.
But Istanbul is also a cultural city with history around every street corner.
