Should they stay or should they go? The finalists of the 2023 debate in English had to discuss whether art and music should remain compulsory subjects in middle and high schools. The winners, who supported that idea, argued in favour of art and music remaining part of the curriculum.
Indeed, Raïssa Djingou, Leela Tusel and Johannes Niemeyer from 2nde ES2 were the most convincing for the jury. However, their opponents from 2nde S3 (Romy Guilmet, Romain Kern and Leon Krambröckers) gave them a hard time and can be proud of their own performance. The debate was led in a serene and assured way by Lucie Tchanilé.
The curtain falls over the 2023 edition of the debating contest in English, and we must thank our nice jury made of Donovan Murray-Guinn, Ralf Behet and Frau Dr. Cornelia Gerhardt (University of Saarland) for their dedicated work. As always, we are grateful to Alfa (the Amicale du Lycée Franco-Allemand) for sponsoring us and rewarding the winners as they deserve!

Should they stay or should they go? Die Finalisten der Englisch-Debatte 2023 mussten darüber diskutieren, ob Kunst und Musik Pflichtfächer in Mittel- und Oberschulen bleiben sollten. Die Gewinner sprachen sich dafür aus, dass Kunst und Musik Teil des Lehrplans bleiben sollten.
Raïssa Djingou, Leela Tusel und Johannes Niemeyer aus der 2nde ES2 konnten die Jury am meisten überzeugen. Ihre Gegner aus der 2nde S3 (Romy Guilmet, Romain Kern und Leon Krambröckers) machten ihnen jedoch das Leben schwer und können stolz auf ihre eigene Leistung sein. Die Debatte wurde von Lucie Tchanilé souverän und sicher geleitet.
