Under the motto ‘Learning to think for yourself’, the club offers a lively and accessible introduction to philosophy. Starting with questions that directly concern young people – such as happiness, freedom, justice, truth, identity, interpersonal relationships or the impact of new technologies – pupils learn to express their thoughts, develop arguments, understand other points of view and hone their critical thinking skills.
The sessions combine discussions, short debates, thought experiments, real-life situations, short texts and playful activities. No prior knowledge is required. All you need is curiosity and a enjoyment of thinking together.
The club, for pupils in Years 8 and 9, takes place every Wednesday during the 7th period, from 1.45 pm to 2.30 pm, in the school library on the 2nd floor.
