THE ‘FF PROFILE’
‘fF’ stands for „fortgeschritten Französisch“ (‘advanced French’). These classes (Years 5 to 7) are for pupils who have a good level of language proficiency (particularly oral) in both partner languages. They have acquired these skills either because they come from a German primary school but were brought up bilingually at home, or because they live in Lorraine with their German parents and attended a primary school there up to Year CM1. Lessons in the partner languages therefore focus heavily on spelling and grammar, whilst subject-specific lessons are taught in both languages from an early stage (see timetable below).

A total of 9 compulsory subjects (including the four written examination subjects) must be taken, amounting to a total of at least 34 hours per week.

In addition to the compulsory subjects, the Franco-German High School offers lessons in the following optional subjects for senior students, in accordance with recognised curricula:
Spanish — Italian — Latin — Computer Science — Art — Music
Participation is voluntary, but once registered, it is compulsory for the academic year. Lessons take place during the 7th and 8th periods. Pupils who have attended lessons in their elective subjects consistently right up to the Abitur may sit an oral examination as part of the Abitur. This enables them to obtain an official qualification and, in some cases, improve their Abitur average mark.
