WHAT DOES ALFA STAND FOR?
Amicale du Lycée Franco-Allemand de Sarrebruck / Friends of the Franco-German High School in Saarbrücken

OBJECTIVES
With the help of membership fees, other donations, sponsorship and voluntary work, we can play an active part in shaping and enhancing our children’s school environment.
ACTIVITIES (SELECTION)
- School events
ALFA runs a stall at 12 school events each academic year, providing refreshments or selling delicious homemade ALFA waffles. - UNICEF Run
At this event, we provide participants with water, fruit and sweets as they make their way to the finish line. - Break-time sales
On school Saturdays, the classes take charge of the break-time sales and are supported in this by ALFA. - Parents’ Careers Forum (Year 8)
The event is organised by ALFA in collaboration with teaching staff. We also provide drinks and snacks for the participating parents. - Summer Camp in Camaret
Every summer, around 50 DFG-LFA students from Saarbrücken, Buc and Freiburg go to Camaret for two weeks. ALFA is responsible for coordinating the camp for our school, the registration process and organising travel to and from the camp. - Sale of school merchandise
ALFA sells T-shirts and jumpers in the school colours
WHAT WE SUPPORT (EXAMPLES)
- School trips
Families with additional needs can apply to ALFA for partial funding. If ALFA approves the application, the trip is usually subsidised at 20 per cent of the actual cost. - Class outings
Form teachers can apply to ALFA for a grant to help fund a class outing. As a rule, funding is provided for up to one class outing per school year. - Tablet sleeves
.New pupils in Years 5 and 6ème receive a protective sleeve from ALFA for their school tablet, so that the device can be transported safely. - Prizes and gifts
ALFA funds welcome gifts for new pupils as well as prizes for the A-level graduation ceremony, the English Contest, the quiz night or other competitions. - Chess club
The chess club has been funded by ALFA for many years. - Educational materials
Among other things, ALFA funds class sets of school textbooks and licences for digital educational materials (such as the FWU and Edumedia media libraries).
